Meet the crew: Captain Aritz, Chef Monica & Deck hand/First Mate

Captain Andries: Andries brings over a decade of maritime expertise, combining his skills as a seasoned sailor with a fun-loving, adventurous spirit. His journey began as a way to travel with a friend, but he quickly fell in love with the freedom and peacefulness of life on the sea. Having sailed around the world, including South Africa, Europe, the US, and the Caribbean, Andries’s experience is vast. He has completed five Atlantic crossings, sailed to Seychelles, and visited Saint Helena three times. For Captain Andries, the more remote and exotic the destination, the better! When he’s not sailing, you’ll find Andries kitesurfing or scuba diving in the Caribbean’s coral reefs. He’s also taken up line dancing, adding to his repertoire of diverse passions.

Chef Monica: Born in Italy and raised in Umbria, Monica grew up in her family’s hotel and restaurant, where she developed a passion for cooking and hospitality. After a successful career as a physiotherapist, she returned to her culinary roots, cooking professionally across Australia, Brazil, and the Caribbean. Monica specializes in traditional Italian cuisine with a focus on fresh, simple ingredients but enjoys exploring global flavors through her travels. She takes cooking classes in every destination, bringing new inspirations back to her kitchen.

A passionate adventurer, scuba diver, and photographer, Monica loves the sea, travel, and meeting new people. With over a decade of experience in yoga and Pilates, she also enjoys leading wellness sessions. Guests praise her warm hospitality and diverse, flavorful dishes. As one guest shared, “Her dishes are packed with flavor,” while others appreciate her ability to customize menus to fit any preference.

Deckhand/Kite instructor Andrea: Andrea is a hands-on, sea-loving deckhand with a knack for all things mechanical and a natural talent for making guests feel at home on board. With a background as a fisherman and mechanic, and the charter industry, he brings a mix of practical skill and easygoing energy to every charter. STCW95 certified and holding a nautical license, he’s all about keeping things running smoothly while sharing his love for life at sea. From tying lines to teaching the ropes, Andrea is always ready to dive in with a smile and a can-do attitude.
