Arrival Day – Cruising Day 1

You will be warmly greeted by your crew at Nanny Cay Marina. After a refreshing welcome cocktail and snack on board, you will be shown to your cabin and helped to settle in. You will be setting sail to Norman Island across the sound, where a delicious lunch will be served onboard. You can enjoy your first snorkel in three water-level caves, at the base of the cliffs. The caves push deeply into the cliffs, so that the darkness makes the experience like a night dive. There is a documented history of pirates’ treasure having been stowed in these caves – so keep your eyes peeled! Some of you may wish to visit to the infamous “Willy T” (the William Thornton Floating Bar and Restaurant) where a good time is guaranteed. Sundowners and dinner are served onboard.

Cruising Day 2

After breakfast, for those who want to stay fit, the captain will lead a hike to the top off Norman Island, where, on a good day, you can see the island of St Croix. Just a stone’s throw from Norman Island, and beside Pelican Island, is a wonderful place named “The Indians”. From a distance, these four tall rock formations look somewhat like an Indian headdress – hence their name! There will be ample time to snorkel and scuba dive here, in one of the BVI’s most popular spots. The next stop is Little Harbour at Peter Island. This is a protected cove and we anchor stern-to and tie on to the trees or the rocks. This quiet bay is one of the favorite spots for charter crew as the water is very calm and great for watersport activities, snorkeling or just relaxing in the water.

Cruising Day 3

A sail up the Sir Francis Drake Channel brings us to Salt Island, so named after its salt ponds, which were once an important resource in the BVI. Here, you can snorkel above, or SCUBA dive down to the wreck of The Rhone – the Royal Mail Steamer which sank in October 1867. You may remember the Rhone from the movie “The Deep”, starring Nick Nolte. This spectacular wreck is recognized as the best wreck dive in the Caribbean and is the jewel in the diving crown of the BVI. If you prefer to snorkel, the aft of the ship lies in very shallow waters, offering a unique viewing experience of the varied fish species and corals. Lunch is served at Cooper Island, a quint island with lovely snorkeling, a beach bar and restaurant.

Cruising Day 4

After breakfast, we sail to The Baths – the most renowned, natural feature in the BVI. The Baths are a collection of giant boulders which form spectacular pools and grottos. The huge boulders and rocks form a maze that leads to Devil’s Bay Beach. Here you can spend a memorable day, snorkeling in the clear blue water around the boulders and chilling out on the beach. Alternatively, you can clamber through a huge tunnel and inside, and under, the large caves, which have been created by erosion.
Later, we sail to North Sound, the BVI’s favorite playground. After all this activity, well deserved sun downers are mixed, followed by another delicious dinner onboard. Lie back and relax under a beautiful star-filled sky.

Cruising Day 5

If the weather permits, we set sail for the island of Anegada, about 15 nm north of Virgin Gorda. Anegada is known for miles of white sand beaches and the 18-mile-long Horseshoe Reef, the largest barrier coral reef in the Caribbean, and the fourth largest on earth. After lunch, the captain rents an open vehicle and take you on an unforgettable island tour to Loblolly Bay, Cow Wreck Beach, Anegada Beach Club and more. For the more adventurous, scooter rentals are available, and the captain will lead the group on a scooter. Anegada is known for their succulent spiny lobsters and if you wish, you can have a lobster dinner on shore at one of the local restaurants. After dinner stay for dancing and the famous limbo contest.

Cruising Day 6

After breakfast we set sail for the island of Jost Van Dyke. The islands of Sandy Spit and Sandy Cay are a lovely lunch stop. Use the time to swim or take the kayak ashore for some more exploring. We take up anchor for a short hop to the picturesque Diamond Cay. The world famous, geological wonder called the Bubbly Pools are located here and it is like a natural Jacuzzi and can be quite invigorating when the tide is in! After snorkeling, a great evening dinner is served.

Cruising Day 7

After breakfast we head to one of our favorite anchorages – White Bay. Enjoy a “painkiller” at the world famous “Soggy Dollar bar”. This is a great beach day for the family. After lunch, we make a short stop at “Foxy’s” – one of the Caribbean’s favorite hangouts before we head to Great Harbour, Peter Island for our last dinner on board.

Cruising Day 8: Departure Day

After a last tasty breakfast onboard, we set sail for Tortola, it is time to gather your belongings, as well as your wonderful memories of a week in this most beautiful environment. Before exchanging fond farewells, your crew will arrange transport to the airport or ferry terminal. You will already be planning your next cruise with Harper Yachting!
