There are not enough words to express how amazing our week was! We had the most amazing time touring the US and British Virgin Island with the crew of Get Along. Meals were amazing; service was top notched; and their plan for places to visit was perfect. Our planning for our charter began 2 years prior, where I was planning for my wife’s 50th birthday! As huge Kenny Chesney fans, we dubbed this her “50th Bar at the End of the World Tour”! I had explained to Derek how we wanted to visit some the highlights we had heard about on No Shoes Radio and charted a course that allowed us to do exactly that! We went from St Thomas, to spend the evening in St John, to Norman Island where we hiked the island, jumped off the top deck of Willy T’s w.

To Whom it May Concern: I had the pleasure of meeting Derek Christian during a recent holiday cruise to the Bahamas. It was a seven day cruise that included my wife, three sons, a family friend and her daughter. Our pre-cruise directive on the surface was simple - "flavorful and healthy". The details, not so simple. My wife doesn't eat red meat, two of my sons don't like fish and our friend's daughter has lactose intolerance. But, aside from that we don't mind taking culinary risks. Kara and Sy made our trip the vacation of a lifetime! They were very welcoming and flexible, offering us many different options for activities and locations to visit. Every night was spent in a beautiful spot where they pointed out the best snorkeling, hiking, or on-island shopping and restaurants -- they even accompanied us on those activities whenever we wanted. Kara and Sy were so fun, laid-back, gracious, and hospitable. On top of all of that they were extremely knowledgeable about sailing, caring for the ship, and the local culture and people. They carefully planned our itinerary, but gave our group lots of flexibility to do the activities we enjoyed. Sy and Kara were very attentive to all guests on the charter. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone was comfortable and lacking nothing. For those guests content with relaxing, drink requests were continuously fulfilled. Our overall impression with our charter experience with the Hubert's was a world class, curated experience with unexpected culinary excellence, unparalleled attention to detail, excellent service and focus on the maintenance and cleanliness of the galley, deck space, joint living areas and individual guest accommodations was impeccable. The Hubert's were amazing right from the start. They were laid back enough to allow us to do what we wanted but take charge enough to keep us on track. We can't imagine a better curated experience. Captain Sy made us feel completely safe. He certainly knows what he's doing at the helm. (Kara is close behind) The boat was always clean and tidy. The food was spectacular! Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone, the Hubert's are the best hosts and have the best charter on the USVIs. We don't want them to become so popular, they'll be booked the next time we want to go sailing. Chef/First MateCaptain Tim spent the first 10 years of his career as a professional chef traveling and working all over the world. He was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri, which you can imagine is not the sailing capitol of the United States. He found his love for the Ocean when he spent 3 years aboard National Geographic’s expedition ships sailing the entire west coast of North and Central America. He found his true home when he moved down to St. Thomas and fell in love with the culture and pristine Carib waters.
After 3 years running chartered yachts all over the U.S and B.V.I’s, Tim knows all the secret spots and hidden gems the islands have to offer. After years of being a chef, he certainly knows his way around the bar and would be happy to mix up some delicious craft cocktails anytime. He prides himself on not having a set itinerary and having the ability to read the vibe of the day. Creating the perfect relaxing vacation everyday for guests and imparting on them the same love of the islands he has.
Tim holds a USCG masters license and STCW 95 certification and has logged well over 1000 days at sea. He would love to share his passion for the sailing lifestyle and personally tailor the perfect yacht vacation for you and yours. You can usually find him strumming his guitar or diving down to catch some spiny lobsters to throw on the grill for that night’s dinner.
