Day To Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival Day / Cruising Day 1

Embarkation is either at Yacht Haven Grande Marina in Charlotte Amalie or American Yacht Harbour at Redhook. Upon arrival, your crew will greet you with a refreshing cocktail. After which you will be shown to your cabin and helped to settle into your new home for the week. After a short briefing of all safety aspects, we set sail for the beautiful island of Little St James for a late lunch and anchor at Christmas Cove. The afternoon offers snorkeling amongst the amazing coral reefs, spotted eagle rays and turtles at “Ledges” or “Cow and Calf”. Enjoy the watersports your yacht offers, soak up the sunshine, and relax. This is also the home of Pizza Pi, the floating pizza restaurant. The party continues, when your captain serves sunset cocktails and your chef presents an incredible dinner.

Day 2

Cruising Day 2

After a scrumptious breakfast, we set sail to Francis Bay or Maho Bay on St John; two beautiful bays, side by side. In the shallow waters of Maho, swim with green turtles and stingrays. For the adventurers, enjoy the St. Francis Trail hike that is 1.6 miles long (3.2 miles round trip) and can be reached by the beach. Enjoy the smaller bays by dinghy: Whistling Cay, Mary’s Point, Trunk Cay and Perkins Cay. Enjoy sundowners on board and an award-winning dinner by your chef.

Day 3

Cruising Day 3

After another enjoyable breakfast, sail to Coral Bay and anchor at Round Bay. Enjoy the floating taco bar, Lime Out. Round Bay and Hansen’s Bay Beach is a perfect setting to enjoy St. John’s local culture. Enjoy the backdrop to another glorious Caribbean day as your chef prepares your three-course evening meal.

Day 4

Cruising Day 4

Lift anchor after breakfast and sail around to the Lovango Cay cut. Visit the new Lovango Resort and Beach Club that claims to be a foodie and shoppers paradise! Dive and snorkel the spectacular Carvel Rock, look out for old cannon balls. You’ll be snorkeling and diving in some of the Caribbean’s finest coral reefs; look out for black tip reef sharks. Cliff jumping and surfing the cut at Mingo Cay are other exciting activities. Indulge in the cocktails onboard and enjoy the sunset before sitting down to a scrumptious dinner prepared by your chef onboard.

Day 5

Cruising Day 5

Sail to the secluded Hans Lollik island, enjoy a private lunch, and snorkel to the beach. After lunch, set sail to Magens Bay; a world-famous beach listed in National Geographic’s top ten beaches in the world. Beautiful soft, white sand, royal palms and the old sugar plantation ruins behind the beach make for a breathtaking view. Magens Bay is the perfect spot for water toys or to enjoy the beach and visit Magens Bay Beach Bar and Boutique for some cocktails and island retail therapy. Enjoy the beautiful night sky and dinner onboard your private yacht.

Day 6

Cruising Day 6

After a delightful breakfast, we sail to Botany Bay; a calm anchorage and the perfect place to relax and swim. The narrow patch of sand connecting the main island of St Thomas with a smaller islet called Little St Thomas is called the Mermaids chair. This is the only spot where you can sit between the Atlantic and Caribbean Oceans. After lunch, we either sail to Santa Maria Bay, a local favorite, only accessible by a trail or boat or we head to Brewers Bay, a quiet bay near the southwest side of St Thomas to enjoy great snorkeling on the shoreline. After a glorious sunset, enjoy a wonderful dinner at this stunning anchorage.

Day 7

Cruising Day 7

Set sail to the secluded and historic Buck Island, off St Thomas for underwater exploration, trail hiking and relaxing on the beach. Turtle Cove is a famous spot for snorkeling. In shallow water, you can easily access a shipwreck called the Cartanza, and see tons of fish and turtles. After lunch, a downwind sail to Honeymoon Beach, Water Island for a very laid-back atmosphere and a perfect place to relax and soak in the sun. Enjoy some time on the beach or rent golf carts to explore the island. Dinghies often have live music or enjoy Monday movie night on a projection screen between two palm trees starting at sunset. Enjoy a nightcap and a late evening of some amazing stargazing; seeing the Milky Way and shooting stars are highly likely.

Day 8

Cruising Day 8: Departure Day

After a last tasty breakfast on board, it is time to gather your belongings and your wonderful memories of a week in this most beautiful environment. Before exchanging fond farewells, your crew will drop you off at Yacht Haven Grande Marina and arrange transport to the airport. You will already be planning your next charter with Harper Yachting!

Optional: St Croix

St Croix is located 35 miles south of St Thomas and is a lovely beam reach sail in good conditions and therefore weather and guest dependent. With a one-way trip being approximately 4 hours of open water sailing, your crew can further discuss this itinerary option closer to your charter. This would take up about three days of the itinerary. The rest of the itinerary would be adjusted, and some stops removed. It is the largest of the three islands and offers land and sea activities to suit everyone’s tastes. Hiking, golfing, horseback riding, dining and beaching, and scuba diving. Rent a car and spend the day exploring the bustling towns of Fredericksted and Christiansted or go and explore the rainforest, and beautiful beaches and enjoy the local culture. The Buccaneer offers a unique island golfing experience. Enjoy a fun trip to the famous Cruzan Rum factory.
