We just returned from our voyage on No Inheritance and as one member of our group said, “this might have been the best vacation ever.” (and we’ve had some good vacations.) The boat was gorgeous. Obviously, rooms are small, and bathrooms/showers were especially tiny, but overall we were certainly pleased with the amount of space on it (plus, who really spends time in their cabins other than sleeping.) We didn’t anticipate that the 9 of us would all be able to be eat in the front of .

Wow! We just finished 7 nights aboard No Inheritance with Captain Eric and Chef Madison, and I don’t know if I can find the words to say just how incredible this trip was. We were four families doing a tandem charter with C Sisters, including 6 teenagers and an 8 YO, with Hurricane Beryl heading west across the Atlantic as we embarked on our journey. We felt at home immediately upon arrival, greeted with champagne and a fresh lobster salad lunch, and we continued to be blown away with their.

Sailing and I do not go hand in hand. I get the kind of seasickness that propels me into another dimension. So when my partner suggested we take a trip out to the Channel Islands, I considered breaking up with them. But, she assured me she’d heard great things about Eric and Madison from a friend of ours and to trust that it would be fun. Ultimately, she was right. Maybe it was the killer cocktails Madison made or the fact that she comforted me while I leaned over the side of the boat about to.

Yum…there wasn’t a meal that wasn’t liked all week long. Food is such a fun and important part of vacation and Maddie nailed it. Meeting the needs of a large group, we had 8, is no easy feat and our entire grouped enjoyed the unique and flavorful meals Maddie thoughtfully prepared. I think the real testament is the opinion of our kids - we had 4 kids in tow (ages 8-11) and they ate every single thing prepared, often asking for more! I personally valued and loved Maddie’s true passion for.

Chef / First MateGrowing up in Florida, I spent much of my time in and on the water, often accompanying my parents to Florida BASS Federation tournaments, where they served as Directors. My love for the ocean quickly led me to offshore sportfishing, where I started as a mate and gained valuable experience as crew. This passion expanded when I was invited to join a sailboat racing crew aboard a 38’ Hinckley, and it was there that I fell in love with sailing.
During this period, I worked various jobs in the service industry, including bartending, while also touring the U.S. as a drummer for many years. These experiences eventually brought me to the USVI, where my boating career truly took off.
As a 100-ton Inland and 50-ton Near Coastal Master Captain, I’ve spent the last ten years captaining boats ranging from 35 feet to 60’ catamarans, along with many others in between. I’ve had the privilege of racing both Swan 90s and 60m Perini Navis in international mega yacht regattas, experiences that have been instrumental in shaping my yachting career.
After a rewarding season aboard Kasiopeja, I’m now looking forward to a new chapter at the helm of No Inheritance—bringing my passion, experience, and enthusiasm to every charter.

Originally from Wellington, South Africa — a small town nestled between mountains and vineyards — Mia grew up surrounded by natural beauty and warm hospitality.
